CARRYING OUT WEB SEARCHES

Some hints for carrying out Web searches:

  • In the USA and several other countries, 'cider' is non-alcoholic apple juice. Hence a search for 'cider' may turn up some useful information.
  • Immobilise is spelt with a 'z' in the USA. Hence a search for an 'immobilized enzyme' may be more fruitful than a search for an immobilised one.

CARRYING OUT WEB SEARCHES

For those schools and colleges following the Edexcel A/S GCE and A Level GCE in Biology and Human Biology, there is a useful Teacher's guide which describes how several of the investigations in this booklet may be used for assessment purposes. This booklet can be downloaded as an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file from: http://www.edexcel.org.uk

SPECIAL ENZYME PACK

The NCBE supplies the individual enzymes required for the practical work described in this booklet. The Centre also sells, at a substantial discount, a pack containing all of the enzymes (five types in total) together with a printed copy of 'In a jam and out of juice'.
